Message From President
Dearest Students of City University
It has been an unprecedented period, a long period, in which we faced, and still, moments that none wishes to face. We are experiencing, altogether, hard times in terms of market volatility, economic deterioration, and now the health situation with the COVID-19 virus.
Current headlines paint a picture of a world where uncertainty and fear are the dominant themes. There is no shortage of questions surrounding COVID-19 and how it has the potential to touch all aspects of our lives – personal and professional.
I want you to know that the Administration as well as the Academic bodies are here to help.
Over the past few weeks, I have touched base to many of our bigger community: colleagues, friends, and students. Like every one of you, they have questions about what is going on around us, so I thought I would write to you directly to share my thoughts and outline the actions we are taking to help all of the students’ community of City University navigate through this environment.
First and foremost, I want you to know that the Administration as well as the Academic bodies are here to help. Whether it is meeting your academic needs or discussing your long-term goals, or having registration and payment issues, or finishing your degree requirements, or saving your last semester and meeting your future work plans, we are ready to provide the best service we can, in spite of the situation we are all encountering.
Please remain assured that we will maintain a high level of educational services and support. We do have educational continuity plans in place to ensure we continue to meet your needs even in times of disruption such as this. City University has started working on elaborating those educational plans, which we expect to announce them in a week or two.
we are ready to provide the best service we can, in spite of the situation we are all encountering.
All our Staff and Faculty members will remain at your service, from offices and classrooms when appropriate, or from homes through the internet and online activities, or using mobiles and all means of social media. In other words, we will do all what is possible to stay your wings trying to inject power and energy in your hearts and blood.
I would appreciate you stay in contact with your advisor, dean, administrative personnel, or anyone from the CityU staff members, and follow the news update on our social media tools and website to keep informed about the steps we will undertake soon. We will do all what is possible to make this period pass smoothly, however, I expect you to understand that everyone has obligations to each other, whether financially or academically, in order to continue altogether successfully.
Lebanon has faced difficult times throughout its history, but Lebanese have always succeeded in overcoming those hard and challenging situations. I am sure, with patience, consistency, and persistence, we will now and always deliver continuously to the world success stories.
Edgard A. Rizk, Ph.D.
